Digital districts or in other words... digital communities
What exactly makes up a digital community? There are quiet a few main components of a digital community. All online communities are made up of different groups of people who come together for the same or similar purpose, whether that includes a product or a service.
All of this is done through a node, which is basically a connection point online. For example Facebook would be a node because they are its a service that has communicating members of a network. This social network is also known as a social graph. A social graph refers to connections of units in a network. Network units are connected by their relationship with each other. These are all things that relate to and on Facebook.
Klout is a social media outlet that allows people to see how they influence people (on what social media network), how many people, and when. It also shows you who influences you, this is called a Flow. Basically a flow is what occurs between members of a network (nodes). Flows are information, resources, posts, pictures, influences, etc are that are being exchanged online.
These flows of communication travel in very different directions and in multiple ways reaching various platforms which is called media multiplicity.
Everything is connected in this online world, flows may reach other domains such as text messages, virtual worlds, and emails and even face-to-face meetups.
These are just a few terms that make up a digital community.
